I was asked to create an artist card for Battle of the Breweries for Bang the Elephant Brewery.
My favourite illustration I made for Bang the Elephant was for their beer Half Rats, it’s likely one of my all-time favourite illustrations and worlds that I manifest for the illustrations I create. I wanted to build a character I could envisage in that Half Rat world. Tartarus Flex was the outcome. Inspired by old Body Building magazines from the 1950s.
That’s what I love about the Half Rat world, there are so many individual characters that make up the Humanoid/Rat hybrids that I knew hadn’t quite finished with that world when I created the Half Rats Beer Label. I needed to revisit that world again with further illustration(s).
